01. Spying using the screen - video connection in medicine
A marriage of the technology and skills of our engineers is the recipe for success in telemedicine. By using Cisco Systems devices, our experts provided a high-quality audiovisual connection enabling the participants of KardioRegionalia organised in Grudziądz to observe in real time and remotely the procedure of left atrial appendage closure.
Thanks to the applied technology, doctors from all Poland were provided with open online communication line between operator, receiver and moderator. Creating an appropriate structure allowed for transmission, review and transfer of images from the procedure or performed diagnosis and guaranteed smooth signal, clear image and high level of detail visibility.
"Nowadays, technology combined with a high level of competencies creates a promising space for the development of medicine. It gives us an opportunity to exchange experiences, educate and diagnose patients by connecting specialists regardless of distance. We put our trust in the experience and knowledge of the engineers from Apius Technologies, who ensured the quality and reliability of the connection during the whole transmission", says Wojciech Ogorzeja, Head of the Cardiac Surgery Department at the W. Biegański Regional Specialist Hospital. "Creating interactive medical workshops with active participation modules, clear image and high-quality of sound is now the technology that is at our fingertips", says Tomasz Kawa, Member of the Management Board of Apius Technologies SA. "All you need is an efficient network infrastructure, appropriate video equipment and its proper configuration, and every doctor can remotely participate in a procedure", adds T. Kawa.
Apart from transmission of images via specialised medical cameras, e.g. laparoscopic devices or cameras put in shadowless lights, it is also possible to mix and transmit life parameters from medical devices and then direct them to any receiving device (monitors, TV sets or multimedia projectors).
"Certain selected activities can be recorded and key moments can be attached to the patient's electronic documentation. In addition, the system is flexible enough to allow the hospital to transmit the treatment to any place in the world", adds Tomasz Kawa. Our clients from the medical sector are the largest hospitals that are highly specialised units and IT leaders.
